Church Life October 16

Welcome to our Church Life blog. We hope you enjoy these weekly updates about the life of our church family.

Last Sunday Pastor Jeff continued his "Mended" sermon series by explaining the difference in feeling guilt and feeling shame. No matter who you are, if you feel guilty, it's because of something you did. No one else made you feel that way. When one feels shame, it's because you feel that you are not worthy. Pastor Jeff shared the story of his grandson's first birthday party. You will remember that he said there were many people at his party and Benjamin realized all the attention was on him and he buried his face in his father's chest because he was embarrassed and felt shame. Pastor Jeff said we feel shame early in life.

With schools being closed for their Fall break on Monday and Tuesday, we had a few extra empty seats in the various campuses but 367 folks worshipped together at the Hunt Club and our Lincoln Road Campus had 1866 folks worshipped together. Those at the East Venue got to witness two baptisms and those in the North Venue were blessed to witness one baptism. There were 211 people who were able to worship with us by going online to do so. Can we take a minute to say thanks to the tech people at our church for the great job they do of keeping us connected? Y'all rock!

Next Sunday, October 19 from 5-7 p.m., we will have our Next Step Class. If you still need to sign up or need more information, please go here.

If you are a college student, or know a college student, please put October 21 on your calendar for the next The Bridge. The Bridge meets at our Hunt Club Campus and it will start at 8 p.m. but there is going to be a cookout at 7 p.m. If you need more information about The Bridge, please go here.

We look forward to seeing all of you at church next Sunday. Have a blessed week!
